What tyres you got fitted?

Tramlining can be caused by low profiles (unlikely for a D4D). My Mazda6 4WD was terrible for it - sporty low profiles.

Hit a rut and the tyre can't stop lateral movement and the sidewall energy gets passed up to the steering. So you end up having to keep readjusting.

Run-flats can do it too, but never had any problems with my T180.

Tyre pressure and toe angle adjustments can help.

basically your RAV shouldn't be affected by following ruts...

The early RAVs were 4 wheel drive constant and very stable on the road. My racing RAV uses very low profile tyres and has no problem with tramlining.

As Marsky says, it can be affected by the tyre tread and pressure...

Firstly, check the tyre pressures and tyre wear pattern for anything odd; then I'd get the car checked -- ie laser aligned. This will check all the wheels for the right camber and castor. Once thats done, and if its still happening, then its checking tyre wear and suspension /steering joints
