Steering Wheel Cover

Hello All!

Having clocked up over 105,000 miles, my steering wheel on the 4.2 is getting a bit worn in the bits most held - beginning to fade too.

I had a look in Halfords today, but none of the after market cover things were that nice to look at. But the biggest problem was that they did they fit the smaller than normal 4.2 steering wheel, making them unsafely loose. Since the covers say 14.5" to 15.5" diameter, I am guessing that the wheel is around 14" diameter.

Does anyone have a cover fitted on their steering wheel? If so what does it look like and where did you get it?

I bought this for my 2001 VX the other day:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_700869_langId_-1_categoryId_165755#BVRRWidgetID

but the whole thing was in black throughout thankfully, the red looks hideous. Actually looks quite neat, the bits with the dimpled sort of effect absolutely match the black dimpled leather door handles and the silver sort of goes with the silver trim. Obviously a bit bulkier than without, but it's a perfect fit for the VX whose steering wheel I thought at first was a tad on the narrow side. They let me try it first to see if it fitted so that might be worth asking to do if you haven't already. I previously tried the leather tape version but when I tightened it, firstly the tape was too long so it was wrinkled at the bottom and worse, as soon as the tape stretched over the wheel it started to split, at least they swapped it for me straight away as defective.

I swapped for a Momo small steering wheel in a black suede.. and as the airbag fitted in 1994 was a mechanical device I removed that with the steering wheel.

number 1 RAV is now being stripped out for the fitting of a rollcage and I'll take the opportunity to fit harnesses in more securely too.
