i have a 1995 carina e 1.6 4a fe engine when i got this car about two weeks ago the engine check light was on i did a read of the ecu and its coming up with 21 .lambda fault ? i have changed the lamda for a blue point direct fit and the light is still comming on after about 20 secs whereas it came straight on before .and the ecu is still flashing out 21.

now there is a slight leak at the exhaust to manifold gasket would this cause the light to come on also on tickover the cos read 0,01 go up to 2500rpm and the cos go over 3.00 .i am a mechanic and can do most things but this has got me puzzled .anyone got any ideas. please

hi trev sorry about the late reply yes i pulled the efi fuse and left it out for 5 mins .ive just done a co test on it and it passed with flying colours.with the light on, sounds like a lambda heater problem or possibly the relay which runs it ??? what do you think?
