Wiper Scratches

I have some scratches in my windscreen that have been caused by the wiper arm or the blade section without the rubber :o (Not me - previous owner/s).

I have tried the Brasso and toothpaste options and no success :( I didn't think either would work as the scratches are rather deep.

Anyone know of other meathods?

Autoscreens and the like all say it's going to need replacing if they can't polish the scratches out. Least I am fully comp and will only have to pay £50 excess if I need it replacing.

If its a deep scratch you'll end up getting a new screen. In the old days(when ahh were a lad) we used to use Jewellers rouge to polish out scratches, dont know if you can still get it or even where you could. I guess an old fashioned jewellers would be the most obvious place to try. I think they use it to polish diamonds and such.

getting a new screen might be the best option - you'll be able to assess the state of the metal surrounding it, as this is another common rust area (mine had begun to go on the leading edge of the roof, so i had the screen taken out).

I thought there were kits available for this?

I know you need an angle grinder with mop, the surface is chuffin hard don't forget. They were available for polishing tv screens years ago, for when an engineer had gone round a corner too fast  with one in the back of his van  sorry guvnor I'm sure it was like that.......
