1.8 V-Matic Against 2.0 D4D

Hi all, It may be time to change my 56 plate T180 for a used Tourer (I need to extra boot capacity and easy loading) I am sadly well aware of the problems with the 2.2 engines (although my T180 has been fine). The 1.8 V-Matic are in plentiful supply and are cheaper than the 2.0 D4D. Is there a massive difference in performance between the two Tourer engines ?
