1996 Prado Engine Management Light

Hi,

I am driving a 1996 Landcruiser Prado 70-series, 3L Manual, Diesel. The engine management light is coming on intermittently. On a long journey it will come on for a few miles then go off for a few. It is driving normally, no performance problems.

As I am in rural Uganda it is difficult to find the diagnostic equipment to find out what the problem is. Can anyone tell me what the fault is likely to be? Also, should I worry?

- try to drain water from fuel filter;

- find a code reader to understand what is the nature of this alert
