High Level Brake Bulb

So, the high level brake bulb has gone on my 2005, 2.0 hatchback.

Not mechanically minded, but I can normally cope with things like this, so go off to Halfords (not in the Avensis as it happens) to get one.

Look through their little guide book at the store, and according to that the high level brake bulb is 'n/a' on the 2005 model. Ask an assistant, who says, "ah, that means you've probably got an LED set. The whole unit will need replacing!".

Well I get home and open the boot, take out the plastic cover, and pull out a bulb!. Its ref is 12v21w J522 Philips. (Probably should have done this before going!)

Looking online; every site I visit and put the car details in comes up with 'n/a' for the the high level brake bulb.

Will I have to go to Toyota to get a new bulb, or does anyone on here now where I might be able to get one?

Why is something that should be simple made so complicated?

Not been overly impressed with the Avensis since getting it 9 months ago, and this has not improved my views on it!!!!

Many thanks.

just take the bulb back to halfrauds and tell them you want one the same, the j522 is pretty irrelevant you need a 12 volt 21 watt bulb for a brake light....model irrelevant so long as its 12 v and 21 w, in fact it's probably cheaper to go to an independent parts shop in your nearest village/town as halfrauds will make you buy a pair i would imagine.
