Hi Dean.

I haven't heard of many problems (if any) with the fuel tank senders on Aygos.

There has been a lot of discussion of how the fuel gauge behaves.

The below isn't factual about the Aygo tank shape but because of the way the

sender works, may help you to understand the situation.

The first part of the tank seems to last ages, the 2nd half is used much quicker.

Imagine an upside down triangle with the point at the bottom.

For each blob on the fuel gauge, (the same DEPTH of fuel), there is a huge difference in quantity.

Also. If you brim the Aygo tank, you get a full tank and possibly 3 or 4 litres in the filler neck.

This has to be used AND the wide top of the tank before there is any change in the fuel gauge.

So from brimmed, to 3 blobs, you will have used a lot of fuel.

The best way for you to check your fuel gauge is to carry a 5 litre fuel can in the car and gradually run it lower than you

usually do. I normally fill up at "2 blobs" but sometimes I have waited untill the last blob starts to flash and the beeping starts.

I'm sure you'll take it safely to the 1 flashing blob & you'll be OK.

(You've always got the 5 Litre spare can just in case you do have an innacurate gauge).

Ian.

Hi

I've never had that problem with my Aygo but a similar fault in an old FIAT was down to the instrument voltage regulator being faulty.
