2001 Toyota Yaris Hazard Lights Flashing When Ignition Is Off!?

hi all!, have been a yaris owner for just over a year now, this is the first problem i have encountered with the car but not sure how or why it has happened!!....

basically with the ignition switched off the hazards lights start flashing, doesnt matter if the key is in the ignition or out, car is locked or open, just once the car is switched off they start flashing! the car will still lock and open as normal, and from what i can see the 'security' light on the dash flashes normally too.

once started, or even 'switched on' the hazards stop flashing and everything works perfect, including indicators, hazards etc!

it started doing this after the car came back from a valet, well it was the morning after, i came out to start the car but Battery was dead as a nail, replaced the Battery and started the car and it has been doing this since, i assume it started during the night and flattened the Battery?? only got the outside valeted so no water should have got near switches inside or anything.

have disconnected the battery for an hour, removed the indicator relay, but still doing it. short of an expensive trip to a dealer i cant think of anything else!?, anybody had any experiences???! confused.gif

tia!

p.s. I have known the car since it was new (bought by a family member) and has not had any mods done, i.e. aftermarket alarms etc

Well that is strange. Does it have a factory alarm that you can set and reset? Could it be a now-expired Battery back up in the alarm/alarm siren?
