Avensis 1.8 Gls 1999 Coolant Leak

Hi There

Have noticed a coolant leak coming from the top hose connector (The cast part) which is bolted to the head with 2 bolts & then the coolant hose attaches to this.

My question is if i remove this connector is there a gasket behind this which i need to order or because i can see crusty white residue visible on the front of this connector is it possible this may have a small fracture in it (Not sure if this is a common thing).

Cheers

Ade

Hi Ade,

I have checked where I can (Haynes manual etc), and I would assume a gasket would be used and needed. Check with a Toyota dealer to confirm.

Otherwise you could get a universal gasket where you cut the shape you need.

The other option is sealant.

A fracture is rare but possible.

Are the bolts tight enough - they may have loosened.

I think you are on the right track.

Hi There

Many thanks for taking the time to check in your manual,i have got a new part from Toyota & will fit this today.Turns out this union has its own seal which may have perished.

Many thanks

Ade
