Full Throttle?

My questions might sound stupid but till date I never got the reasoning answer.

1. What will happen if I full throttle a non-EFI engine? I mean if I accelerate its rpm beyond red zone.

2. What will happen if I keep on shifting gears without releasing the accelerator? e.g.

I give full throttle (in first gears) and release clutch, then with out releasing accelerator I hold clutch shift it to 2nd and release clutch and so on...

I have Land Cruiser 1996 (1KZ-T) 5 Door, 3000cc turbo non-efi

Toyota Surf SSR 1991 EFI 2500cc turbo 5 door

Mitsubishi Pajero 1990 2500cc Turbo 5 door non-efi

Toyota Land Cruiser 1987 (BJ74V) 13B-T 3 door non –efi

All of them are powered with Diesel Engines.

You are talking about over revving it - DON'T is the simple answer.

Even if it didn't break big style (by dropping a tappet into a piston, or even throwing a piston out the top/side of the engine) the damage you would do would mean you would have to replace the engine in the end.

But, I hear you say, racing engines rev much higher. Yes they do, but they cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and are designed to do so. Normal road going vehicles are designed to last much longer and so rev much lower.
