How To Fully Drain Coolant?

Hello Knowledgable people (I hope) Does anyone know how to fully drain the engine coolant? I undid the coolant drainplug, and lower radiator hose and got most of it out, about 3 litres. However the expansion tank didn't drain. Does any one have any ideas how to empty this? (I did have the car on ramps, I wonder if this angle stopped the expansion tank from draining?). Thanks, Mark.
