Wow, 56.8Mpg Average With 2.2D

Have just returned from a week up in Scotland covering almost 1000 miles. I added a single shot of stp diesel additive, gave it an Italian tune-up, loaded the car with the family and full boot of luggage and set off up the road. I reset the computer and switched on cruise control sitting at just over 70mph. The car managed to average almost 57mpg, which I am very pleased with. I am using Shell FS and wasn't using lights or a/c. The car has done 90k and touch wood is running very sweetly - long may this continue.

Wow. How does that differ to your recent mpg?

My car is of similar age /spec and I am pleased with 42 mpg!

I used to get ~56mpg on long motorway runs too in my 2.2 Tourer..

Must be the 150 bhp engine, best I've ever got out of my T180 was 52mpg on a long run and driving like a saint

Hi Paul, before I reset the computer, it was showing an average of 49mpg. My wife uses the car and her commute is about 67% A roads/dual carriageway and 33% urban. I must admit, I have been driving like a 'saint' on the holiday. I pumped the tyres up to 35 all round.

And yes tubaman, it is the 150bhp model.

the T180 is thirstier - for 1 you have the 5th injector putting diesel into the DPF.
