Toyota Avensis Airbag Sensor?

Hi guys,

My 2004 Avensis 1.8 was in a collision some time ago where the drivers side curtain airbag was deployed.

I have purchased a replacement curtain airbag.

I have also found a company that will reset the module for £25.

My question is regarding the airbag crash sensor.

Does each airbag in the car have it's own crash sensor?

As far as I'm aware the sensors for the side airbags are mounted in each of the B pillars, and the sensors for the curtain airbags are mounted in each of the quarter panels.

Thanks for the reply, I've got to visit a few salvage yards and try to get hold of the correct sensor as the dealer prices are sky high.

Toyota want £160 for the labour to fit the airbag and £130 supply and fit for the airbag sensor. A bit steep for me so will try and get hold of a sensor from a salvage yard and just pay Toyota £160 for the fitting labour. Funny thing is I got the Airbag sensor priced up at my two nearest Toyota dealers, the first one said £435 just to supply so I put the phone down and the second one said £130.

There don't seem to be many garages that offer to fit airbag replacements.

After the airbag and sensor are fitted by Toyota I can get the module reset for £25.

I was told Toyota are unable to reset the module and only offer to replace it.
