Trc Voc Engine Lights On

Hi,

I have an 05 Diesiel Corolla Verso. A fortnight ago my TRC, VOC and engine light came on and as the car was due it's MOT I took it to the garage a week later.In the meantime I changed two front tyres and had they checked the wheel tracking etc. However it failed it's MOT on emissions, so they put something into the engine to help and it passed through the MOT. Don't mean to me sexist, but I'm a woman and took their word for it and paid the bill, thinking that it was all ok. The lights disappeared only to return 3 days later? I've read on a forum something about a ERG valve clean? I've also read so many conflicting things, I'm now scared to take it to the garage incase of having to remortgage my house to pay for the repair. I really can't afford £2,000 that some have suggested it will cost to repair. Help!!!!! Lady in distress and distressed and now stressed!
