Lack Of Power

I have had my Landcruiser serviced and was advised that I need to come back to check a potential leak on the transfer box after 1000k. Went back and the transfer box was ok but I was told that the rocker cover seal was faulty and needed replaced - apparently still under warrenty.

Now I have no power from the engine. It drives but pulling a trailer across England means that I have to just rely on the gears rather than the engine. 2nd on some parts of the A55. There is no engine warning light

Two questions so I understand what is going on before going back to the dealer

Why would they have the rocker cover off during a routine service (customer service mentioned in passing product recall on injectors)?

What have the technicians done in replacing the seal to affect the performance so drastically.

Anyone any ideas / help

Toyota issued a customer satisfaction campaign to replace faulty injector nozzle seals ( failure of these could destroy the engine ) replacement involves removing the rocker cover and injectors and fitting new seals into the cylinder head. There are quite a few things during the strip / rebuild that could be the cause of your lack of power, speak to the dealer tell them since they reworked the car its down on power.

Hi

I own a 2010 Land Cruiser and same thing happen to me few days ago.

The car stoped in the middle of the highway - thanks god I'm alive !

My dealer says the injactor failed leading to motor cilinder # 3 being destroyed.

Can you send me the link to the campaign ?

I'm past warranty by 10 month and the dealer refuse to help me.

Thanks

Ace

Hi, don't waste time with the dealer, who thinks he sees a cost to him looming. Go straight to Toyota for your country. If this is due to a recall failure - which you should have had a letter about - then there is no cost to you. Recall work is done irrespective of the vehicle age or warranty status.

Not quite

Special service campaigns are NOT recalls, do not confuse the two

Special service campaigns will have a timeline and mileage limit

Recalls are what they are and remain open until the majority of vehicles have been repaired. It will be closed when VOSA (in the UK) are satisfied that everything has been done in order to contact the majority of owners. I cannot remember the exact numbers but it is around 90% completion rate

Kiingo
