Courtsey Car

Hi I am due to book my car in for service 3-4 weeks in advance. I wanted to know do Toyota give free courtesy cars or do I have to pay, if so how much. This is because last time I went for a service, it was booked for 10am in morning and then kept the car for 2 nights!!! Even though it was supposed to take 3 hours. Thanks

It varies from dealer to dealer. In my experience most provide the courtesy car free, though if you use their insurance there may be a charge for that.

Not sure - with our insurance it provides cover for courtesy cars whilst ours are in for service or repair. Our insurance certificates have the following entry below the reg number of our vehicle:

Any motor car which is loaned or hired to the Policyholder under the Insurer's Motor Damage Claims Service, or by a member of the Motor Trade while the vehicle specified above (our vehicle) is in the custody of the Motor trader for service, repair or MOT.

This enables us to drive the dealer's courtesy car under our insurance. If you have the same, the dealer will probably wish to take a copy of your certificate as proof the car is covered.

Anything from free to £10 per 24hrs is what ive experienced. It all depends on the franchise.

Usually they give it to you with a full tank & expect it back the same way - if not fuel is chargeable.

The dealer I use has never charged and their insurance covers for loans and test drives, they just ask for car be returned with same level of petrol as when picked up.
