Handbrake Light

Hi

Hope someone can help me with this I've noticed today that when the handbrake is applied the red light is not coming on.

I applied the handbrake several time and it came on then went off again.

Is there anything that I maybe able to do myself to try and fix this? Or does it mean an expensive fix

Hi Sheen, think the first thing I would check would be the switch which will be by the handbrake lever under the centre console.

go to the top of the RAV4 page and you will see one listed as technical information by Anchorman

Scroll down to the 4.2 section and handbrake adjustment and you will find one of the excellent articles by that missed member which gives clear instruction on how to remove the console.

Thank you very much for your reply

I have found the topic you mentioned will hopefully try and get it sorted tomorrow now.

The light shows up when you put the ignition on so its not the light itself and more than likely as you said it'll be the switch

Will update when fixed
