Wider Wheels Advice For 2012 Yaris

Hi all,

I have been offered 195/60R15 sports alloys (4 stud) that would replace my 175/65R15 standard alloys. I measured 195mm in from where the current outside of the tyre is and it looks like the wider tyre might rub against the rear brake pipes.

Does any one have any experience of fitting wider tyres (at the same diameter)? Would I need a spacer?

Thanks,

It's not quite that simple... It's all about the rim width and the offset. There's a very helpful site for this and I've already filled in your sizes on the assumption that your rim is a 6J with offset of 48... The result may be a surprise... :)

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=175&aspect=65&diameter=15&wheelwidth=6&offset=48&width2=195&aspect2=60&diameter2=15&wheelwidth2=6&offset2=48#content

P.S. You'll need to feed in the accurate width/offset figures for your standard wheels in the top table and then these wheels you have been offered in the bottom table... (the offset is usually cold stamped into the back of one of the spokes on each wheel...)

Not forgetting the PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), the diameter of the circle the fixing holes are on and the centre bore (CB), the hole in the centre of the wheel. You may need spigots if the CB of the new wheels is larger than the existing, machining if it's smaller.

Don't forget to inform your insurance company of the change - they'll jump at any chance to avoid paying a claim!
