Hi all...

Just a quick question that one of you will probably know..

I turned on ignition in my Auris today and I heard for the first time a kind of whistling noise...

Opened bonnet and it was quite loud, I have added a file which I did a 10 second recording of the noise.

Can anyone tell me what this is as I have had the car for over 12 months now and have never heard this before..

Thanks for taking the time to read this post...

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi again... Im hoping someone can clarify this noise..

Took the car back to Toyota main dealer and they had it in for 1 day... Had a text first thing this morning to say car was ready for collection.

Fetched the keys and was handed the invoice / job sheet that had been tested.

It said 'Noise Is From EGR Valve - Normal Operation'

I have had the bonnet up many time while cleaning under the hood and the missus has been in the car with ignition on listening to the radio and the noise was never there before.

When I took it to main dealers 2 or 3 weeks back i told them about the noise and the mechanic came out and when we opened the bonnet with ignition on the sound wasnt there.. Drove back home opened the bonnet and the noise was buzzing again.

Can anyone else with a 1.4 d4d tell me if there is any noise coming from their EGR valve when the engine is off but ignition is on...

Many thanks and look forward to hearing from any of your comments..
