Retracting / Roller Parcel Shelf for the Hatchback?

Hi all, longtime listener, first time caller and all that. I have a 2007 5-dr Auris TR hatchback... and a dog.

The dog hops in and out of the boot happily, as I've removed the parcel shelf. But here's the rub - I'd love a solution where I can fold/roll/retract the parcel shelf when pup is along for a ride, but cover up the boot space whenever I have things in there that aren't four-legged. Travelling to and from the garage isn't an option each time.

A) daft question, but I'll ask anyway, would an estate version roller parcel shelf fit my hatchback?

B) as I'm certain the answer to the above question is no, has anyone come across any aftermarket solutions for this?

ps. Any tips on boot liners and bumper protector strips?

Usually with the roller type of load space cover, there are recesses in the boot sides that, a) hold the cover in place so one can extend and retract it, and b) some type of retaining arrangement to hold the cover in place when extended. Your Auris will have neither of these, and the Auris Touring Sport cover will also be too long.

As the Auris has a two position locking arrangement for the rear seat back, can you not have the rear backs in the more upright position, with the parcel shelf retained against rear of the seat backs using something like elastic luggage straps.

There is a company called Rearguards that may be worth looking at - http://www.rearguards.co.uk/

Boot liners - try Amazon and eBay. Four example - https://www.amazon.co.uk/TOYOTA-AURIS-HEAVY-WATERPROOF-LINER-y/dp/B00FJAVNQG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461611924&sr=8-1&keywords=Toyota+auris+boot+liner

Thanks Frosty. I knew that the touring solution was a long shot. I wonder... perhaps a custom build using a re-purposed roller blind? Best break out my glue-gun.

Thanks also for the link for boot liners and rear guards. The rear guards look ideal, but I was thinking more along the lines of the fitted rubber ones, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toyota-AURIS-3-door-5-door-2007/dp/B00VTKXIV8/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1461659871&sr=8-22&keywords=boot+liner+auris which might be a neater arrangement - has anyone got one of these who can give any feedback?

I've just come across this actually. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Car-Rear-Load-Cargo-Luggage-Cover-Parcel-Shelf-Boot-Cover-Trunk-Cover-/290657709569

Looks like a universal roller parcel shelf, screw in the brackets etc. Does that look like it would work?? I dont know if there will be anything to attach the hooks to, for it to connect on once it's pulled out - i dont think the trim goes around the sides very far?

Could also have a look at http://www.ukcarmats.co.uk/

They are the retail website of Hitech Autoparts Ltd, who manufacture car mats, mudflaps, etc for manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz, Nissan, etc

From looking at the fitting instructions, there are 'U' shaped fittings which the cover slots into and which retain it in place behind the rear seat, and other fittings that go by the hatch which the cover hooks into when extended.
