Supra Mk3 Advice And Rust

Hi Fellas

just joined the forum as I am the process of looking for a mk3 turbo. I currently have a bme 325 (e30), but want suppet a bit quicker and more easily tuned....the mk3 turbo looks pretty cool for that purpose.

Where are the main weak spots for rust? I understand the chassis is galvanised, how effective is this? Also, what else should I look for when buying?

Also how nice is the auto to drive, I like manuals but the autos are more common. there are some tidy looking auto ones in the autotrader

Cheers

Stu

They don;t tent to rot much for the year.. only real places are the rear arches of previous owners have not cleaned the mud out of them, and sometimes around the tailgate glass and rear wiper hole.. I have heard of them going around the windscreen seal too, I have seen many mk3 supras but am yet to seea really rotten one...

There is a mk3 buyers guide on suprasonic.co.uk under "articles" if that helps.

cheers for the reply

looking at one next week hopefully...its spent most of its life in Cyprus...which hopefully means there is even less chance of rot.

I'll check that guide out.

Cheers

Damn. You beat me to it. I was going to suggest getting one imported. British winters and salt on the roads take their toll on cars. Galvanised bodywork is a godsend though.!
