2.4 hybrid vs 2.4 petrol MPG?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

does anyone have experience with Estima 2.4 hybrid vs Estima 2.4 Petrol?

i was considering buying an estima Hyvrid however there is an estima aeras 2.4 petrol at an attractive price and the seller promises that the MPG’s of both cars are the same but I’m finding this hard to believe?

2.4 hybrids are 4 wheel drive and 5 speed.

2.4 petrol I’m considering is 2 wheel drive.

please help!

No idea..never had a hybrid....but my gut feeling would be there won't be that much between them..depends on your mileage/distances and just how critical mpg is to you.?

There is not that much difference between the 3 litre V6 Estima and the 2.4 for instance..maybe a few mpg..but not enough to concern me (I have the V6)..I would suspect the hybrid versus the 2.4 petrol is the same.

There are members here that have hybrids so I'm sure they'll be along to give you more informed opinions.

i was going to buy Toyota estima hybrid but i went to my local Toyota dealer and they said that they would not touch it as it was a import. so i got 2.4 petrol. unless you know a independent garage that will look after it.

Hello Paul, hope you like the Estima?I have a 2.4 petrol Esti and love it. What part of Suffolk are you? I use a local garage to me and I'm on the Suffolk  Colchester border if your not to far.

Hello Paul, yes had mine under sealed wrote about it on the forum. Ipswich is a bit far to travel. Isn't there a good local garage to you as the Estima is virtually the same as a Previa. My local garages scanner wouldn't read the codes on mine so I purchased a scanner. There's another thread on here about that on here.

Not necessarily...it can happen but it often points to a less than perfect Oil change regime in the past perhaps.?

I've run vvti engines for several years now and never had an Oil usage issue...my current V6 never needs to be topped up between services.. I change the Oil every 5/6000k miles...you are right to keep an eye on it and check it regularly.

Nothing.....just make regular checks and top ups when required.

The vvti likes regular/frequent oil changes...it may not have had those previously.

What mileage has the car done.?

Not a lot of miles then...I assume the vehicle is using Oil and not losing it.? (ie a leak)

I always use 5w/30 fully synthetic...and change Oil/filter every 5/6k miles.

no it's not losing Oil. when i do a Oil change I'm going to use bg109 engine carbon clean. which should sort the problem.

I use the same Oil as Neil, the engines never used a drop of Oil. Oil and filter change every 5000 miles or there abouts.
