We own 58 reg auris t-spirit and recently when the car is locked and closed the side lights remain on. Anyone know why this is and how can stop it happening?

I presume you mean the parking lights?

Are the lights always on, do they ever turn off?

Do you have the light switch turned off, or left on auto?

Is the rear license plate light also on?

Does this happen when you lock with the physical key?

Do they turn off after 30s-5 mins ? If so it's the follow me home lights (or what ever toyota call it)

Do you have auto lights ?

Cheers both, the car has auto lights. The lights on 2 occasions didn’t turn off and meant we had to turn the lights to off then back to auto and re-lock the car.

It now has not happened for a while but what bugs me is I can’t replicate it! Tried locking the car with the light stall down and up to see if it was some sort of parking light. Also tried with the stalk forward. No joy.

Take quick look at the drivers door pin switch as the lights are supposed to stay on until the drivers door is opened, if the car can't "see" the door open via the switch then the lights will stay on. Pop the switch off and make sure its clean, dry and free of corrosion.
