K&N Air Filter on a 2003 Yaris Diesel

Hi i have a 2003 Toyota Yaris diesel 1.4 1ndtv . I've currently put a k&n cone filter on it with a pipe modified to have the maf sensor on it. The only issue I had the car was very sluggish lower down in the Rev range. Is their anyway to fix this I heard you can disconnect the Battery for 10 minutes and it'll reset the factory ecu settings and it will pick up the new ones from the k&n filter. The car didn't want to move and I took time to pick up speed it had very poor throttle response. Any solutions?

Is it OK if you revert the filter and MAF sensor back to original?

Yes, don't waste your money. Put everything back the way it was. If these "go faster" replacements were of any use don't you think the manufacturer would fit them originally?

I recently watched a video about various air filters, including their efficiency and effectiveness. K&N did improve performance slightly, cost about 3 x more, but was less efficient at filtration which was the reason for the improvement. It allowed more air flow but let more particles through. I know which I would prefer for long term engine health!

Put it back to stock, without a remap you will not again anything apart from noise, using more fuel, and black smoke

The factory filter and air box are tuned to give the best middle of the road results, the engineers know what their doing most of the time
