Rev Counter

Hi all, didn't fancy paying £60/70 for a used rev counter for my 2005 Aygo, so bought a Vauxhall Agila one for £10, all fitted, working and doesn't look out of place. Unfortunately can't get the illumination light to work, only when side/headlights are off, soon as I switch sidelights on rev counter light goes out.  The Agila has 5 wires compared to Aygo's 4. Anyone have anyideas please.

Thanks

Dougie

You have taped the wrong lighting wire or the rev counter uses a negative for the lighting

i will pull up a diagram for the Agila in the GM GDS

Had to cut a 1" x 4/5" slot, not noticable. Had to remove silver pod bezel to get pod in and then clip in.

How have you wired in the tacho ? using the factory plug ?

Agila plug has 5 wires, Aygo 4, had to cut both and fit new 4 pin plug.

Would appreciate that, Agila has 5 wires compared to Aygo's 4, cut both and fitted new 4 pin plug. Tried every permutation but can only get illumination on when lights are off ??  Illumination goes off once I switch side/headlamps on.

I will have another look later today and work out what's going on

I haven't forgotten, I'm having few issues with the gm software, in the process of putting it on a virtual machine it's a pita but its something to do i suppose

The Agila was built by Suzuki in Hungary - first generation a rebadged Suzuki Wagon R and the second generation a rebadged Suzuki Splash. So perhaps a Suzuki database may throw up something ....

i have been down that route the other day, information is thin on the ground, i have most gm info up to 2004 and some models 2009-2019 but not the Agila B i did have TIS access but that's now lapsed

I have owned a few Vauxhall's and have work and driven many more over the years

After many hours and then remembering its in German i have the info it shows 4 wires

pin 1 - White/Red - Battery positive

Pin 2 - Brown - Rpm Signal

Pin 3  - Black/Orange - Ground

Pin 4 - Red/Yellow - LED dimming signal (dimmung-signal)

Im still looking to see how the dimming works (slow process translating from German) on the Agila, from what i can gather the Aygo uses a positive switch lighting

if you ground the Red/Yellow it should give you lighting, If so that should be simple to sort out
