The sheer number of BMWs that are M Sports or Audis that are S Lines show that the UK as a demographic (not specific individuals) favour large rims, to the detriment of ride and in some cases handling. How a car looks on the drive is of more importance than the drive on the road. Wheel size is more important than engine size.

Daft really as it should be obvious that an off road vehicle needs big boots and more metal to rubber doesn't cut it.  An SUV  is a wanabee off road vehicle so should look better with bigger tyres.
