CHR Battery - what type is it?

Hi.

The Auris is going and I'm collecting a 2018 CHR 1.8 Excel next week.  In the spirit of "know thy enemy" can anyone tell me what type of Battery it will have - AGM, Lead Acid, or what?

Thanks

I assume you mean the 12v Battery on the corolla 1.8 it’s under the bonnet and is lead acid so on the Chr 1.8 which is also under the bonnet I would imagine that is also lead acid although I think Toyota tend to change the specs and sometimes use agm.

as a rule of thumb if the the Battery is in the boot like on the auris and the 2.0L corolla it’s usually agm so that the acid doesn’t spill out if the vehicle turns over in a accident probably the same on the 2.0L chr.

Goodness me Rosgoe, I was a bit vague in my original post!  Yes, I did mean the 12v Battery because that is the bete noir of Toyota hybrid problems.

Thanks for your response.

Our 2018 C-HR 1.8 Excel hybrid has a standard lead acid Battery, size 012. The factory one was an obscure Turkish brand rated at 45 Ah. The first time it went flat I replaced it with a Yuasa Silver 54 Ah and it's been fine since.

And my garage put in 52Ah under warranty.  Ditto fine

That's good to know - thanks Nick and Roy.

Varta / Bosch ( exactly the same Battery under the branding ) OR a Yuasa are the best 3 choices for replacement automotive 12 volt batteries.

I agree, I always fit one of the above wherever possible. The 'silver' versions of each seem particularly good, they come with a 5 year warranty and usually easily outlast it.
