Tony, that is what I do though you cannot afford to take them to minimum tread if you choose that route.

At the end of the day, it is personal choice.

The majority of industry guidance still states to put new tyres on the rear if only changing two tyres - and this also takes into account cars having ABS, VSC, etc, and whether a vehicle is front or rear wheel drive. The Michelin video that was for used for a long time to highlight the issues with this, was a VW Golf - front wheel drive.

Also putting new tyres on the rear won't necessarily warrant yearly tyre changes as there are so many variables that affect wear - annual mileage, style of driving, etc, etc.

So if you don't agree with industry guidance, that is your choice.
