Stalling

Hello,

Last year I bought aygo 2019. It kept stalling and I was told there was nothing wrong with the car.

I got a bit better after a few months but still stalls, I'm used to it. I have had the car for 11 months. The other day I had been driving the car for 10 minutes when I stalled at the top of a hill, I got the car started again when all of a sudden the car stopped dead. RAC tried everything he knew to get the car started but nothing worked. The code he got was P1604 startability.

When the man poured petrol over a certain part of the engine the car started but shut down again. Car is now in the garage on holiday weekend! I'm hoping it's not too expensive to repair.

I've never stalled a car as much in 30 years driving.

A 2019 Aygo bought in the UK will still be covered by the Toyota UK 5 year warranty so the repair will be covered by the warranty.

Thank you. I don't know why this didn't come to mind.

If it starts on starting fluid, it's fuel related problem, possibly the fuel pump has given up, or it's an immobilizer issue

Thank you. Would you know if either of these issues come under manufacture warranty?

Neither are "wear & tear" items so should be covered.

Cheers, Hopefully I'll get a diagnosis tomorrow. Will post the outcome.

I'm feeling more positive.

Out with the current problem you have ...If you keep stalling it then it sounds like the clutch pedal is too high.

Its easily adjusted under the Battery without removing the Battery.

After having the car a week and stalling constantly I was given the same advice from several people. Took the car to garage suggesting the clutch may be too high. Got it back saying, there was nothing wrong with the clutch!!

Thanks for the info on where to adjust the clutch. 👍🏼

An update to the earlier chat. Only got the car back today. It was fuel contamination.

Total of £408, included a new Battery, injectors and £20 of petrol.

Thanks to every one for replies and good advice, it was appreciated.

You'll be surprised how easy this is.
