Yaris Verso (54 plate) brake pads and shoes

Am I right in thinking that a 2004 Yaris Verso can be expected to have Akebono type front pads (as opposed to Bosch type) and that only one type of shoe was fitted at the rear, independent of where it was made?

I'm just about to do a full brake service - trying to get a full set, front and rear - and seem to be offered a choice of types. Unusually none of the suppliers* seem to be willing to guarantee that they can supply the right type based on the reg. number.

[* except Toyota themselves - but they want £113 for a set of pads and a set of shoes!]

Ha, I went through the same problem with my Yaris D4D because that also used jappy brake gear - Even the discs were a different size!!

My pad of choice was the EBC Greenstuffs at the time, and they were eventually able to get the right parts to me, although their pads didn't come with any of the brake gear (i.e. the metal clips and stuff), which the Toyota ones do I believe.

If you can get Toyota to give you part numbers for all the stuff, you can give those to suppliers to match the proper pad shape and sizes.

Damn, wish I'd thought about that when I called them! But they will smell a rat if I try that now. Perhaps I will have to take a wheel off the front and take a photo - the Bosch and Akebono are a very different shape, so that should be possible visually. I ~think~ I should be Ok with the rears, as long as I stay away from the ones for the D4D which I think are different from the petrol variants.

Quick update on this: as predicted, the Yaris Verso (1.3 litre petrol) is fitted with Akebono-type, not Bosch style pads at the front.
