Prius Gen5

There seems to be silence around a new generation from the long in the tooth discontinued Gen 4. Does anyone have further information? A search of the web also seems to contain some pictures of potential new design but nothing concrete.

All conjecture at present. The Gen 4 only dates from 2016, so not particularly long in the tooth. Sales have been discontinued in some European countries, including the UK, due to falling sales volumes.

It is subjective of course although I feel the Gen 4 is dated now especially when the Prius is thought to be the leader of the pack in terms of technology. The foot operated parking brake is not really very modern whilst the screen position feels like it is from an older era. The Corolla whilst dating from only a few years later in terms of the current generation release date feels a more modern car. Looking forward to see what Toyota have planned for the next release of the Prius.

It just seems a bit moot since we're almost certainly not going to get it. Given how the western world is hell-bent on going EV by 2030, I'd be surprised if they're even working on one as they'd only be able to sell it in eastern countries, and they tend to prefer small cars or massive pickups

There are some rumours about gen 5 mostly from USA. If Prius return it won't be same as corolla and other hybrids, it will bring a new Technology that has never been seen in cars before, it will most likely be the first mass produce Toyota car with solid state Battery and or hydrogen powered combustion engine. Prius name has won its title over the years and it will eventually do it again if ever happen. Toyota aren't stupid or lack behind, anyone think so is fouling themselves.
