Power loss

Toyota petrol 2008 looses power when pulling off, when hot. Ran for 70 miles at 60mph great. Stopped in a lay by, pulled off, then no acceleration.  No smoke, no noise, no smell. Nearly caused and accident! Just bought it! Any ideas?

has the car ever had throttle body cleaning? Are they any warning lights or engine management lights on the dash? When was the car serviced last time and what is the mileage? There are many possibilities why the car looses power, if happens on hot engine only can be sticky plate on the throttle body as a result of carbon buildup. This usually is not accompanied by any warning lights, but could be some present in connection with accelerator pedal position or throttle body position sensors. 👍
