Weird sound Toyota Estima 2005 cold engine in Drive

Hi there!

I just bought a Toyota Estima from 2005 2.3L petrol automatic gearbox and I’m very happy with it only when I start the vehicle with a cold engine and I put it in Drive mode the car makes a weird rattling sound coming from the front of the car. Does anyone recognize this sound? The dealer I bought it from tried to fix it but the sound is still there.

sounds nasty expensive, have you checked the obvious engine cooling fan making contact with anything?  Hate to think of a transmission issue.

Thanks for you comment John! Yes that has been checked by the garage if I’m correct. The sound will only be there when I start the car and put it in drive and it stops within 5 minutes and if I restart the engine when it’s warm the sound isn’t there..

Hmm, could it be choke based, very noisy for a part in that location though?  It looks sluggish on pull away?
