Loss Of Power To My Toyota Avensis 2006 2.2 D4D

Loss of power to my Toyota Avensis 2006 2.2 D4D

For almost a full year my car has been running trouble-free except for cleaning the EGR valve in October which I done in fifteen minutes. Two weeks ago my car started suddenly losing power and when I removed the electrical connection plug from the MAF sensor the car regained most power but ran not as she should but it ran similar to a 90s diesel car without a turbo. Today I got a second-hand airflow meter from a car breaker and put it on and connected the plug and the car has no power again, hence I had to remove the plug again. Is it possible that both MAF sensors could be faulty or is something else causing this loss of power?

Any help would be very appreciated as the car runs great otherwise.
