Satnav auto screen brightness

Hi.

My past cars auris, chr and corolla would all change the satnav screen to night mode automatically when dark.

My recent chr 2021 is set to auto change the display brightness but only slightly dimms the display at night and is still too bright.

I have tried different settings night/day/auto but on night mode it stays dark all the time even during daylight.I have tried adjusting at night with headlights on.

Has anyone come across this issue before or does the system just dimm the brightness rather than going into night mode.

Thank you for your assistance.

This may sound odd, but have you tried adjusting it at night. I had a similar problem with mine. My display was far too dark at night and I couldn't adjust it. I spoke to the Dealer and one of their technicians came out, and did it for me. He covered the auto headlight sensor with a piece of paper, the car thought is was dark and went into the auto adjust mode. In the display settings he adjusted the brightness and it was fine. When he was done he removed the paper, the car adjusted automatically to the daylight mode and everything was fine. This didn't affect the daytime settings in any way.

My media display is similar to the one in the attached image (although this is not a photo of mine)
