Temp gauge not moving and air con not working

Hi all 

I wondered if anyone with more expertise than me might be able to advise on some issues that I have had with my 2007 Avensis 

- The temp gauge doesn’t move from cold, although the engine shows no signs of overheating 

- the air con doesn’t work properly 

These both faults started today. 
These other things might be unrelated but they began at the same time; 

- the trip display meter doesn’t show the range left or the current mpg. It displays all the other things. 
 

any advice to help solve it would be greatly appreciated, it’s a cracking car, so hoping it’s not anything serious.
