Law To Have License Plate Front Of Car?

I realized on my corolla that the front bumper where the holes are to put a license plate on are sealed up. I have no idea why the previous owner did this but was wondering if i need to have a plate on the front of the car. I hope not because I don't feel like drilling the holes again to put one up.

Unfortuantly, i dont think we have too many canadians on this site. Your best bet is to call up the Driving Standards agency, or canadian equivalant and ask them if it is required.
