Toyota Voxy/Noah (poly V belt) 2007+ CORRECT replacement

For anyone thinking of changing the poly V belt on a Toyota Voxy / Noah 2007 / 2008 automatic petrol 2.0 litre multivalve, four pulley system.

Engine code 3ZR FAE , chassis ZRR75 ( Japan import )

Air con, crankshaft, water pump, alternator. (Tensioner on the ALT only). No wheel tensioner.

Be aware that the original Toyota original part numbers (16361A) > 90916 02664 , 90916 KT1230 and 90916 02679 all relate to a 1230mm length 6 groove, poly V belt for that engine code and chassis number.

Well, that length of the belt is incorrect. 1230mm will fit the four pulleys just about. But NOT allow the alternator to be pushed back into place and to be readjusted and bolted in place.

Having measured the original installed belt, it is actually 1280mm outer wall , 1270mm inner wall circumferences.

Spoke to various specialist Toyota parts dealers and Toyota main dealers. None of which had a relevant right part number. And ordering a V belt based on the length only was useless.

Makes you wonder how dealer sellers of Japan imported cars don't have a clue when asked for spare parts!

I am going to reach out to Toyota in Japan as they have more parts catalogues apparently.

Hope this post serves to save others the time of ordering, buying and trying to fit the wrong part. Scratching their heads wondering why a simple poly V belt purchased using a Toyota genuine part number doesn't fit.

Thanks for reading.

New replacement belt length still incorrect compared to existing installed belt. Even using the Toyota OEM part number.

1230mm is the correct belt, double and triple checked on the EPC and aftermarket

is the tensioner fully backed off, and the adjuster is moving freely, i take it that the alternator through bolt isn't bound up and the alternator can move

flash22.......appreciate the reply. But your wrong.....!

1230mm length belt is incorrect length regardless of what your EPC says.

Let me explain once more with pictures.

I removed the existing belt that fits. It measures 1280mm outer / 1270mm inner.

I have in my hand a brand new belt 1230mm. The belt doesn't fit in the way it's supposed to.

I even had an experienced mobile mechanic look at it and clearly the 1230mm belt is incorrect.

I hold the old belt 1280mm / 1270mm it fits. The new belt 1230mm doesn't fit.

These belts aren't stretch belts either. No special tools needed.

You install by hand, reposition alternator. Use alternator tensioner rack, then tighten lock bolt on alternator. Then tighten alternator pivot bolt.

Not much more I can say.

The picture below ; Original belt on the left. New belt on the right. visual length difference.

Same part numbers come up on the Toyota EPC these also cross on the online EPC's and aftermarket

90916 02664

90916 KT1230

90916 02679

the only thing i can think of is the water pump/pulley has been changed, and it has a different diameter, i will look up the rav4 (runs the same 3ZR-FAE engine)

yes I'm aware how the belt tensioners work, yes it's a standard belt

90916 KT1230 - K means its locally sourced T is Toyota 1230 is the belt size, checked the belt against other cars with the 3ZR-FAE all list the 1230 (apart from the non A/C)

Autodoc is very hit and miss and are well known for not crossing the correct parts, the aftermarket source i use are direct with the manufacturer or companies like blueprint

https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en/article/blueprint/AD06R1230

Direct look up for the Noah

https://partsfinder.bilsteingroup.com/en/article/febi/39787?make=Toyota

Dealers will only do look ups for imports with the frame number to pin down the build date not by UK reg, can you pm me your Frame number

finally found a pic with the manual tensioner
