Hi,

Just bought an automatic Aygo It has only done like 10k miles. I get it on Saturday. My question is. Does holding the footbrake disengage the clutch I may have to consider another car if I will be changing the car to neutral every single time i'm at some lights.

Bear in mind the Aygo has an automated manual gearbox, rather than a full automatic.

The footbrake doesn't disengage the clutch.

Treat an auto like a manual and it'll last longer & perform better.

E.G. If you wouldn't sit in a manual with your foot on the clutch and in gear, don't sit on the brake in an Auto whilst in drive in the same situation.

IMO it's fine to do it in situations where you'll need to pull away in a short space of time. But if you're sat at a junction for more than 10 seconds or so, it's not a hardship to slip it into neutral.

I had an X shift previously, its okay to sit on the footbrake for a short time, longer traffic lights I used to put the handbrake on and shift into neutral.
