Media Screen Reboot?

Hi All, driving along today and the media screen went blank (was running Android Auto with Google Maps) then came up again as it does when first switched on and automatically reconnected to AA/Google Maps without me having to do anything. Could this be a fault developing or could it be a result of an over the air update or something?

Any thoughts?

Probably a blip... Had it on mine a couple of times. Press and hold the power button until screen goes blank will force a reboot without switching off the ignition if it gets stuck

I've had this too. It's a computer. It happens.

My colleague had his MY23 delivered a couple of weeks before mine.

His did the same as described in the OP on a couple of occasions.

Then one day, last week, he discovered his media screen wouldn't turn on at all. Been like it since, nothing has worked in bringing it back to life.

He's booked in with the dealer on Friday to get it diagnosed and, hopefully, repaired.

Ummm, ok thanks. It's in for a service soon, might mention it. The only computers I've worked with that randomly reboot have had a fault.

That's why the increased dependence on software in cars scares me!

How long before we get a literal Blue Screen of Death in cars?!

As long as it's not a BEV, you're OK.

So apparently the car needs a complete new media system.

The dealer is requesting approval from Toyota.

The car has done around 2,000 miles from new.

Well I've had mine nearly a year, it's two years old, and it's only happened once. I'll mention it next week at it's service but not going to worry too much ATM.
