Pioneer DEH-2028ZC - how to enable rear speakers

Hi all

Ive got a very frustrating issue with my Pioneer HU that came with the car (it's a Peugeot 107 2012 facelift - but technically is Toyota pretty much - please feel free to remove this if not allowed).   I have tried a number of different forums and not getting anywhere with it so looking for any advice or help.

The car is fitted with the Pioneer DEH-2028ZC HU, external mic is in interior dome light, bluetooth, AUX and USB as standard.

Basically, I have Speakers in front doors and tweeters in the dash (all from factory).  The DEH-2028ZC uses a quadlock adaptor and no cables were fitted for rear Speakers. I have installed a test cable using the correct terminal connectors into the quadlock for the rear Speakers.  However, no sound is output from them.  There is no fader option for rear speakers either on the stereo which suggests they have been disabled somehow.  Someone in another forum re-enabled the fader using Diagbox 7,2 but I am not sure where to get this from or if any hardware is required too.

I also tried to factory reset the HU by holding down the SRC button but this did nothing and I cannot access the Reset option assuming this will enable all speakers.  Is there a way to manually enable all speakers somehow or can someone advise me how to get this resolved as I would like to use the stock HU before I consider aftermarket unit.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Philip for the video. I've seen this already but it doesn't address my problem.  I am using the stock Pioneer HU whereas Tim uses an aftermarket HU.  The issue is that the stock HU has the rear Speakers disabled and I need to enable them first using Diagbox/Lexia3 cables which I dont have (and are also expensive).  So my question is does anyone know whether there is a way to manually reset the HU so all Speakers are enabled or can you point me to a linkfor the right Lexia3 cables & Diagbox software.

Also if anyone in Cheshire area has the software/cables already, would you be willing to set this for me (for a small fee and some beers :D)

i take it the pic of the quad lock is before you added the spade connectors for the rears?

quad lock is basically iso in a fancy housing

i can't see how pp2000 or diag would help as the radio is not connected to any of the data buses

Hi Yunas,

Disabled Rear Speakers: The lack of pre-existing wiring and the absence of a fader option suggest the rear Speakers might be intentionally disabled in the software settings of your head unit.

Diagbox 7.2: While enabling the fader using Diagbox 7.2 (a Peugeot/Citroen diagnostic tool) it requires specialized hardware and software, making it impractical for you.

You may want to Contact a Car Audio Specialist with experience in your specific car model and the Pioneer DEH-2028ZC head unit.

They might have access to specialized tools or software that can diagnose and potentially re-enable the rear Speakers without needing Diagbox 7.2.

Additionally, they can assess the feasibility of activating the rear Speakers considering the limitations of your car's original wiring harness.

Hope this helps😄

Yes the photo is prior to installing the new wires. I am writing what I have read online by a user "Pankol" in another forum.  He installed Diagbox 7.2 and enabled the fader and it worked. So just going off what others have reported. I don't understand how diagbox/pp2k works but it's worth trying i think

Thanks Bper. Really appreciate your input into this and you are absolutely right. I think a visit to the audio specialist may resolve this.  Hopefully they have the correct software/ hardware to sort it.

I doubt you find anyone that can do it - it's a French thing, as the Aygo ones are enabled

will do a bit of digging through the Toyota info i have

Cheers mate. I really appreciate it. Let me know if you find anything. I really want to get this sorted otherwise I'll have to get a cheap Chinese piece of crap that breaks down so the time.  I like the fact that it's OEM and it's rock solid. I understand that the sound isn't a good as some premium models bits it's sufficient for my needs

thanks bud. Annoyingly today I called the local Peugeot garage and they said they couldnt do it. I explained exactly how others in forums have done it using Diagbox and PP2k but they were not sure... .at £150/hour charge to look at it, I may have to consider an after market unit. I really hope I dont and can revive this one instead.  It's a 5 minuite job to pulg the OBD unit in and switch off the fader and £150 is very steep for me.

I really hope someone here can help out and really appreciate any advice / assistance you guys give me. TIA

Thanks Bper. Sadly the dealers are not prepared to help suggesting either it's not possible or they have never heard of such a scenario... odd coz it's manufactured by them.  I'm slowly residing myslef to buying an aftermarket unit instead as the easiest option although I hate being a defeatist!  I would have purchased the Lexia3 cables and installed the software myself but loathed to spending £50-150 on cables for a one off job!

it's an OEM pioneer item, the problem with dealers is they don't retain staff for long periods due to pay and conditions most just employ parts fitters, cars over 5-6 years old they don't bother with tbh

the only company that may touch it is https://www.dndservices.co.uk/

I have put out some feelers for a service manual but nothing has come up yet

Thanks Flash22.  I don't think this is going to be resolved without the cables and diagbox software.  I think I will have to buy buy an aftermarket unit as a last resort.  thanks for looking into this and let me know if you do find anything of interest.

Autel tools do it but it is model-dependent, a garage or auto electrician should have a suitable tool whether they know how to use it is another matter (all the gear and no idea)
