Can anyone advise what this belt does in the picture?

Drive / auxiliary 

The drive belt powers the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and AC compressor. Each of these components contains a pulley where the drive belt wraps around.

Hi Michael,its also called serpentine belt it goes around various engine components, typically including the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, and sometimes the water Hope this helps:smile:
