Proace verso tailgate window

Hi, I had my rear windscreen wiper repaired under warranty but in fixing this they broke one of the gas strut brackets that are fixed to the rear opening window. Now I know that my local Toyota garage are now responsible for repairing this but they are telling me that the fitting isn't a separate part and is part of the rear window. I have now been waiting for about four months as the window is on back order. I have tried googling the part or an alternative but have been unsuccessful so far. It seems such a waste to replace the window for the sake of a possible £3 piece of metal. 

Does anyone know of an alternative part or where I could possibly get an alternative.
