Just read an issue of my dads retro cars and seen a feature on kp61's

Well it just so happens that i have a pinto lying in the garage and love toyotas so the next step is inevitable.

Can anyone please tell me EVERYTHING about these kp's and how to go about fitting the pinto ? I was looking for a mk2 escort but there all to rough for my budget.

Thanx again

you have to spend quite a bit getting a pinto really quick and you have to get involved in making engine mounts and gearbox mounts and props, its alot of hassle, if its just for road use and car park fun you might be better off with a 1500 petrol(5k i think?) out of a lite ace van, fits on the starlet gearbox and engine mounts, i think you can get a cam for it too. a 1300 starlet is pretty nippy too. theres loads of engine options for them if you want it reaaly quick. theres a guy even putting a lexus v8 in one www.billzilla.org is the site i think. i havnt started mine yet but im gonna try a 18rg i bought out of a celica, thats somewhere around 140hp standard. im putting a 4age in my mk1 escort at the minute, quite alot of people put them in starlets.

Are there any kits for the mountings or do u need to weld em up yourself? I was generaly thinking of making it for the strip an general shenanagins :P

i dont know of any kits available but if your set on a pinto then you can use a mk2 crossmember, i suppose rs2000 mounts. i think you have to make something to move where the crossmember sits slightly. with the escort crossmember you can use loads of different front suspension, most popular is 2.8 capri front legs. depends how quick you want to be up the strip. pinto starlets ive seen run 12ish but thats with amazing traction and somewhere around 180hp i think.
