I was wondering if anyone would know whether it is possible to use standard type plugs instead of platinum tip type plugs. The reason being that they are a lot cheaper and the car is high on the miles,it is a carina e 1.6 4a fe lean burn engine. If anyone has any advice or experience on this please let me know what you yhink I should do,many thanks Leachy :D :D :D

standard plugs, yes the car will run just as good , but the burn in the chambers wont be as strong and excess unburnt fuel will enter the cat and begin to break it down ( 1992 , dont think yours will have 1 fitted ), so the choice is yours. expensive plugs now or a new cat later ?? Iridium plugs are good but for your car they are still £ 7- 47 each
