what type of music? because all dance/pop/rock or whatever, if scratching is involved it sucks.

Lol, I don't think you'll find many scratch DJ's scratching pop or rock, unless their name is KidKoala ;) .

Scratching originates from hip hop turntablism. 99% of scratching is on hip hop records, it was later introduced to the dance scene, DJ Hype is known for scratching over the top of drum and bass.

Scratching is everywhere now, but I wouldn't expect to find it in rock or pop music ;) . Krafty Kuts for example (winner of breakspoll DJ of the year award) is an amazing scratch DJ, he uses scratching in his breakbeat sets, as well as his hop hop sets...

Then you get dedicated turntablists, who don't mix records, they just scratch and scratch and make a tune out of it, for example KidKoala, Scratch perverts, Waxalutionists etc.
