No Thrust After 40mph

Hi,

Is it posible that someone can advise me as to where my problem lies.

I have a 93 Lucida turbo deisel auto. The car drives fine at low speeds upto 40mph. From setting off the car accelerates as it should upto about 40 mph. If I then try to accelerate the kick down works, the engine revs freely but very, very slow acceleration. I have seen an Auto specilaist who says it is not the transmission and a deisel engine specialist who says its not the engine and he confirmed that the turbo is working.

The fault must lie somewhee but nobody is shedding any light on it.

:help:

if the car is thrashed to within an inch of its life ,hitting 2nd gear instead of 5th for example. it can go into whats called " SAFE MODE " or if the turbo has a problem it can go into this state also, try resetting the ecu by taking off the earth from Battery for 30 seconds , press the brake 2 times when you take it off first to discharge any 12v power stored in the system.then replace the earth .this works on petrol models , unsure on diesels but maybe worth a try. Does going through the gears manually make any difference instead of using drive,is the fluid levels ok in the gearbox ???

Thanks for the advise

Will try the ecu point tomorrow ( Wed).

The oil levels are fine.

Going through the gears manually does not seem to have a big effect, in each gear the car gets to a low to mid speed for that gear and then will not deliver power quickly.

One thing I have noticed each time I have the revs but no power issue is that there is a noise, similar to that a scubba diver makes when they are taking in air, (sorry for the bad description). I have also started to notice the same noise and a very slight blip in speed (a 1/2 second) when crusing at 60 - 70 with moderate use of gas.

It's an Automatic Transmission right? sorry, I'm not sure if all Lucidas are Automatic. could be the GearBox. I don't have mechanical experience but I know few mechanics who encounter these similar problems with Automatic Transmissions. I'll ask them whatare the common causes ..

I just asked a mechanic, he said some causes are because, The Transmission Cable is loosen, or the ATF level is too high or too low, or the Computer Box is broken.

these 3 simple and common causes are the only ones that I understand explained to me. but there are more other probable causes. sorry, I'm just an Idiot about these stuff and I want to learn more here.
