Loud Noise When Turning

when ever i go into reverse turning the tires it makes a knocking noise then when i turn to go forward it makes the noise and then goes away, is there something wrong??

Please Help

normally cos i got an FF car i would say CV but since u dont got that.. i would suggest getting ur rack and pinion steering checked.. also may want to get ur gears looked at it could be that as well... make sure ur power steering fluid is up to the proper levels do not overfill or ur power steering pump would go.. i noticed u got a mk3 so make sure to check everything out.. belts all that stuff..
