:help: hey newbie here :)

hi, well ive got a 1990 carina mark 2 gl. when i drive it , it sounds like im on train tracks!! theres a, its hard to explain, thudding noise coming from somewhere, when i brake it rattles and when i get to 70, dont ask me why 70, it bangs even louder, now someone said to m,e that it could be the drive shaft, im afraid my dad is the one who knows about cars more than me :) but if anyone knows what could be making this loud banging/thuding/rattling noise could u please help me

Thanx

Brett

Banging and thuding does sound like a drive shaft the easy way to check a drive shaft for wear is to jack up the car grab the shaft and try to twist it and if theres a fair amount of movement then its worn.

Also if you jack the car up check the wheel bearings.
